West Hartford Property Records Database

January 30, 2007

If you are considering a move to West Hartford, CT in the near future, you should know about their property records database.  Their on-line database is a model for other towns in the state, providing instant access and detailed information for anyone seeking information about real property in town.

Some features:

  • free online access
  • no login required
  • search by property address
  • detailed property information including sales history, photo, permits, and building sketch
  • interactive map, allowing you to select neighboring properties without knowing address
  • comparable sales info by address and also shows you location on map in relation to property you’re comparing
  • you can even pick a place of interest, say a golf course, and view properties near that location

Some towns offer limited information on property records online and many offer no information at all.  If you’re looking for property in West Hartford, consider yourself lucky that you have this database at your disposal.

Another great entry! May I ask what you consider an ideal client (if you have written about this please just direct me to the post). We are pre-approved, know exactly what area, style & features we want and understand that no house is perfect. In fact, unless structurally unsound to the point of dangerousness we would consider buying yet we recently heard that we are considered *difficult* by our previous agent. Anything you felt like mentioning would be appreciated…

Thought I should mention that we did object to dual agency which is not a common practice where we are from and that we prefered to pay an up front fee, which she refused to even discuss with us. I mention this because it is the only thing that I can think of. That said, I suspect most people think they are wonderful, polite and easy to deal with but clearly that is a matter of opinion:)

Unfortunately, dual agency is very common in CT and only a handful of agents practice exclusive buyer agency. I just had a closing today and met the listing agent for my buyer’s property. I told her that I just represent buyers and she gave me the “I don’t get it” stare.

Objecting to dual agency and asking for representation on a fee basis probably made something in the agent’s brain short-circuit.
